1. What This Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy explains what information KampKiepie collects when you use our website, why we collect it, and how it's used. It applies to our public pages (homepage, resort directory, resort profiles, and booking pages).

2. Information We Collect

• Search and browsing activity — the searches and filters you use, and which resort pages you view, so we can show relevant results and understand which resorts are popular.
• Booking details — if you book through KampKiepie directly, we collect the details needed to process that booking (name, contact details, dates, guest count, and payment-related information where applicable).
• Contact form submissions — if you use our Contact page, we collect whatever details you provide in that form.
• Local browser storage — we use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember things like which categories you've filtered by, and to avoid counting the same visitor's page view more than once a month for a given resort.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To operate the directory and process bookings made through KampKiepie.
• To give resort owners aggregate insight into how their listing is performing (e.g. total page views) — we do not share your individual identity with resort owners unless you submit a booking or enquiry directly to them.
• To improve the Platform based on how it's actually used.

4. Sharing With Resorts

If you submit a booking or enquiry to a specific resort, the details you provide (name, contact information, dates, and any notes) are shared with that resort so they can fulfil your request. Resorts are independent operators and are responsible for how they handle your information once received.

5. Third-Party Services

KampKiepie uses Google Sheets and Google Apps Script as part of its underlying infrastructure. Booking and contact data submitted through the Platform is processed through these services. Where a resort uses an external booking platform (such as NightsBridge or Q2B) instead of KampKiepie's own booking system, your information is submitted directly to that third party under their own privacy terms.

6. Data Retention

We retain booking and enquiry records for as long as reasonably necessary for record-keeping and dispute-resolution purposes. Aggregate statistics (like total view counts) are retained indefinitely as they don't identify individual visitors.

7. Your Rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information held by us. To make such a request, please get in touch via our Contact page.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
